What new features will we have?

> The player will not be able to fly aeroplanes, unlike some previous installments of the Grand Theft Auto series. But Helicopters will be flyable onto any building rooftop. The airpont is also a confirmed.

> After the initial load sequence, we no longer have to wait when entering/exiting buildings or crossing islands. The extent of the loadtime-free expectation in the game has also been commented on, when a Rockstar spokesperson claimed: "You can basically play the game from beginning to end without a single load screen."

> Niko's outfit can be changed in the game; however, we will not be able to customize his physique or hairstyle as we got used to it in San Andreas.

> We will also be able to perform a variety of new actions with our character such as climbing fire escapes and telephone poles, pushing aside people who bump into us and ask out women.

> When we select the mobile phone, in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen a big version of the mobile screen pops up and a list of the commands we can make, such as "meet me here", etc.

> The movements of the player is controlled by a physics engine instead of pre-written animations, so the movements of the characters are more realistic. Is has been also revealed that the variations in the terrain cause the way the character walks to change.

> Stealing a parked car became more complicated. Now it involves Niko approaching the car unnoticed, breaking the glass with his elbow, before hot-wiring it — afterwards he gets to use it. Also, there will be a lot of animation variations to sneaking up to a car and breaking its window. The way Niko enters the car would look different each time depending where and how he is in relation to the car.

> In the city every street will have a name, because there will be some missions requiring the player to go to a specific address.


> We will also have the option of hailing a cab at any time, to get to an address in the city. When we ride in the cab as a paying passenger, we will have the option of viewing the journey from the inside, or skipping it to immediately reach the destination.

> The gunfight system has been reworked to feel natural, because the combat system in previous games was awkward and cumbersome.

> It is also possible to have multiple active missions, due to the fact that some missions will run over the course of several days, and will require us to wait for further instructions, phone calls.


> Rockstar has revealed that we will also be able to make use of the Internet as a means of communication. Although the exact details of the role of the Internet in the game are being kept under wraps, it has been revealed that Niko can access the internet from various cyber cafes called "TW@", in order to upload his resume for prospective employers.

> Multiplayer in the game has been confirmed. However, it will not be an MMO, so we will not have such game experiment as in WOW etc. Multiplayer function can be accessed from the mobile phone and will allow up to 16 players, with a possibility of open-ended gameplay and exploring the whole city.

The AI of the Police and star wanted levels will operate differently. When the police are in search of Niko, the player will now have to avoid a certain radius marked on the map in which the police will be looking for him. The size of this radius will increase with the player's wanted level (the more stars, the bigger the radius) and also re-centers itself on Niko's location if he is spotted by the police. Instead of utilizing the 'Pay'N'Spray' as in previous games, Niko can now more realistically disguise himself by clandestinely changing vehicles in empty areas such as parking garages. Additionally, pedestrians can now report crimes such as car-jacking.
 

> After every missoin we will have the chance to save.

> The simulation of the time changes: a day will last 48 minutes, so an hour will 2 minutes ling insted of one minute.

> The characters of the game will have a different look each time we see them, they will not wear the same clothes as in previous versions.

> In every police car there will be an on board computer letting us to access the police database of people who have a criminal record. It will be useful during missions to get information about hostile bandits.

> Drive-by has been improved, now we can free aim from the window after breaking it out.

> The game has much better audio quality then the earlier GTAs.

> Through the storyline friendships will be very important, we will be able to build friendships and maintain them. If we reach a point in our friendship, our friend will give us various benefits.

> With our friends we can go for a drink, a dinner, or we can play pool, darts, bowling. We are able to choose these activities from our cellphone.

> If we drink too much the game alerts us: "You are drunk. Your vision is blurred.". In this state w will have difficulties controling Niko. Driving in this condition is also harder, it is almost impossible to keep the car straight.

> Rockstar extended the draw distance, so we can see the beautiful landscapes with more details.

> During gunfights we can lock on and get a health indicator of our enemy as we aim at him. It is a purple circle around the crosshair devided into eight segments, filled according to the health level of our target.

> Expensive cars will include a posh GPS which is talking to us about the direction we should drive.

> In GTA IV we are able to linsten to a radio station not only in a car, but anywhere, using our cellphone's radio, even during missions, gunfights.

> It is comfirmed by an official screenshot, that we will be able to use the truck of cars to transport or hide things.

> Niko's movements are animated organically and very nicely, he is able to climb up on trucks, according to a screenshot. All his movements are very realistic.

> We will have exact days in the game, it will be useful when we make an appointment to an exact day and hour. We will have these information in our mobile phone's organizer part. It is now confirmed, that there will not be seasons in the game, only random weather which will not be the same twice, but there will not be snow.
